Just before the weekend I was bemoaning in a Friday bugbear the lack of silence in the English countryside, and you may recall I mentioned how it is much easier to find in the hills in the Algarve. Here’s an example of noise in the hills;
A location with sounds under 40 decibels for an hour or more are so difficult to find in many parts of the world that there’s even a battle to save these quiet spaces. So this is my odd square today; something that doesn’t happen often!
This post, well a still of this view, will be my desktop for February as today is Clare’s Share Your Desktop. What’s your desktop view for the month ahead?
Much quieter than here – and lovely scenery too 👍

Hiya me again, you had pinged it perfectly. Just found it 🙂 the problem was me!! I’m way way behind on approvals because was out all of yesterday afternoon, and then had a 2 hour meeting via Zoom in the evening when I got back. So never had a chance to read all the comments and approve all the pingbacks. Sorry!

Ooh, lovely! My daily dose of a hundred decibels really puts me in awe of you there, Becky.
At least I can get to the Lake when I can, where sometimes it can be a lot quieter.

It’s where I live, Becky… and I’m only whining! I have a tantrum-throwing neighbour who loves slamming doors, pounding on walls and screaming at all hours, and then plays loud music. It’s probably not a hundred decibels, but feels like it! People, eh?! 🙄

oh no, that’s not good about your neighbour 😦 I can understand why it feels that loud. Hope it is not a daily occurence

It’s just one of those things, really… 😶🙄

My idea of happiness: that view. I didn’t hear anything, not even the hum of traffic.
My odds today are from Prague again: https://anthropologist.wordpress.com/2022/02/15/squareodds-13-prague-again/

Quiet can be hard to come by, and the fridge buzzes loudly next to me in agreement! I love walking the coast here, but even that can be loud when the waves are crashing ashore. My post today is actually taken in what can be a very quiet setting: https://grahamsisland.com/2022/02/15/scrawled-filefish-5/
