My final post on the Underground Gallery at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park combines the final two rooms of Tony Cragg’s 2017 exhibition. It was in one of these rooms that we saw some of his early work such as the Minster, which is best described as ‘systematically arranged individual fragments of mixed material‘!
Certainly an innovative use of materials which would otherwise be thrown away, and very different to his later work in the same room. Out of his two periods I think I prefer it when he is experimenting with more permanent and unusual materials and shapes, however the first room with his wooden structures remains my favourite.
