Are you ready for Squares? It returns on Friday, and the October theme offers something for absolutely everybody – a chance to share past posts, past squares and glimpses of the past. I finished my Square preparations yesterday and so today I thought I’d offer a glimpse of the past on Winchester’s High Street. I took it on the final day of the heritage festival, an old fashioned painted advertising sign that is brand new. I rather like it!

I couldn’t though make it Square which of course is why it is not one of my thirty one squares for October. Hopefully though it serves well as a Squares advert!
Remember you don’t have to share square daily; your squares can appear once a week or just once. It is totally up to you. As is the content of your squares. Here’s a reminder of what your October Square(s) could cover;
- Re-post a previous square post which at the time didn’t get the attention it deserved
- Share one or more leftover squares from a previous theme that you loved
- Share a new photograph that would have been perfect for a previous theme
- Or if you have not been squaring for very long why not pick a theme you missed and share thirty one squares of that theme
- Alternatively have fun with the word ‘past’ by sharing squares of history and heritage, and that includes past holidays!

The tag is PastSquares but the only thing you need to remember is that in October your images must be square – that’s four equal sides!
I’m rooting and cheering for you every day!!

How Fun!! I’m not sure how to share a whole post. But I love the idea of recycle, reuse. And Mercery and 5 other planets are Re-tograde right now so you are spinning with the universe 🌎🪐💫

oh my, but isn’t rain good?!!

Yes to the rain. 😀 Had 17mls last night which was wonderful. But no to the forecast of huge hail 😱 🌩

ugh no that doesn’t sound good. Hail should be banned!

Oh yes. Had a hail storm years ago and it dented the roof and was so loud smashing onto the tin roof. Size of tennis balls. Shredded a lot of the trees, ripped the shade cloth on the shade house…….banned indeed x

oh my, ours are never larger than cherry tomatoes and even that is rare. Rabbit droppings usually!

I could cope with that. Mostly cherry tomatoes size or a tad bigger on occasion.
I reckon rabbit dropping falling from the sky should be banned as well 😁

Me too. I can relax as you should but do you have to wrap things up?

Totally relaxed as all 31 scheduled and decided I’ll probably only do a couple of galleries in October, and possibly two in November

I’m up to 15 or 16 so the first half of the month. October had sort of snuck up on me.

Likewise, hence this only appearing this week!
Half the month done though is good progress 🙂

A great advert for your Squares! I’ll be much more intermittent this time: I’m feeling that blogging is taking too much time at the moment, and am aiming to cut back. Squares may be the first victim, unfortunately, but I SHALL join in.

Oh it so easily does take over, so totally understand. I’m pondering delaying January squares to February!
Even just once will be marvellous, so I look forward to your occasional square xx

Oh, I’ll do better than that. I saw a great one today that deserves an outing. I think delaying would be a good idea by the way, so that a different month, with different activity and weather is centre-stage.

Yes the delay and a different month are really growing on me 🙂

Winchester does look a lovely place, Becky. So long since I was there I’ve forgotten most of it. I’d be happy to see a month of Winchester squares. Hope the event went well. You must be coming in our direction sometime next month? Take care till then.

Unfortunately not organised enough to do a whole month of Winchester! Maybe 2022 😊
And yes, all being well right at the end of the month x

I am no where near organised…….maybe I’ll have to wing it like last Squares. I’m going to schedule my first one for 12:01am and be first to post a square. No link to you unless I use this post I guess x

You winged it brilliantly last time, so sure you will do the same again 😊
Linking here is fine, all of mine are scheduled for 5:15am BST if that helps. The url will be blog/date/past-squares

I like your sign too. I must have been by that place but I don’t remember it. I’m actually somewhat ready for squares this time, about half done and quietly confident about the rest!

It was probably the Edinburgh Woollen shop when you walked past. Only just become Jigsaw!
