Ah, a secretary bird! I had to read the comments to figure out what this thing was. I wouldn’t want to get into a fight with it. I thought maybe a bedraggled, ill chicken, but then you said it was almost as tall as you. Great shot, Becky!

You are right about not getting into a fight with this fellow. They are vicious birds, they attack with their feet
Good grief, are they related to Australian Cassowaries? “The cassowary has been known to kill human beings with slashing blows of its feet, as the innermost of its three toes bears a long daggerlike nail.”
Fortunately not quite as strong as a cassowary nor aggressive but not sure I’d want to risk it!
How’s his shorthand?
Great shot, Becky
Hee hee, I forgot to ask!!
A very thoughtful bird wondering, no doubt, how easy it will be to square trees for July.
hee hee, I am finding quite easy as long as you don’t mind half the tree missing!!
That’s a rather fierce looking beak.
Wow, that is just amazing!
That bird does NOT look pleased. Hope you made it away alive…or were using a telephoto.
Hee gee, telephoto although I was only a few metres away. Fortunately although it’s nearly as tall as me I’m too big for its dinner!
That bird looks like it would be very willing to use its wicked-looking beak.
Yes they are quite vicious with their food, fortunately I’m far too big to be at risk!
That one is cool bird. Love it. 😀 😀
Thanks Cee 😊
Secretary bird? He looks so judgemental.
Yes it is!! Just glad I’m not a snake, rodent or grasshopper.
Silent and wordless and tagless…
😆 it’s a Secretary Bird
Not the most immaculate secretary 😂 oh how I wish that I had a better camera when I did my Africa trip. We saw lots of interesting birds.
Thanks Sue 😊
Also known as bad hair day 😂

I’m sure you would still look good – even on a bad hair day, Becky 😂 great photo.
That’s a wow!
Thank you so much 🙂
Marvellous! So glad you listened to my excellent advice.
Didn’t dare do otherwise!
Scary, am I?
