One of the things I love about squares is that not every photograph needs be a masterpiece. This challenge is about being kind and having fun with squares. It also means I can display those photographs I can’t quite convince myself to delete, but would otherwise not get a show. Such as this one I took in September of Mars and the moon early one morning.

It kinda doesn’t really work! However I’ve always been one for the expression ‘If at first you don’t succeed try, try again‘. So try again I did in early October.

I was feeling quite proud of myself until I realised looking at Margaret’s post that this shot was in fact of Venus not Mars! I’d done that human thing of forgetting that both we and the planets are all moving. I really must remember to use the fabulous website Time and Date for determining the Night Sky. Still, I still love it as a shot and best of all that moment of realisation made me giggle to myself. It also enables me to add on the W C Field’s addition to those words of wisdom ‘If at first you don’t succeed try, try again‘.
Then quit. No use being a fool about it !
My kind of quote there. I mostly fond the best thing about trying to get night photos is that it takes me outside and I appreciate how beautiful the night sky is. Here’s mine today: https://grahamsisland.com/2020/10/26/kinda-twisted/

oh that’s so true 😀 I was on such a high just watching for ages even if my camera didn’t capture what my eye could see

In a way, that’s something I try to remember about photography in general. I don’t want to get so caught up in taking a photo that I forget to look around and appreciate what I’m seeing.

Exactly! I watch tourists sometimes with taking videos or constant selfies, and do wonder how much they remember of their visit.

Venus. Mars. I would never have known the difference either – still beautiful shots. And I love your last quote! That may become my new motto for these days. 🙂

I like both! I have many shots of the moon, it’s difficult to get the ‘perfect’ one, so I believe that each one of them has its particular imperfection, and this makes each one perfect!

Haha… moon shots are so difficult unless you have a very good camera and technical knowledge. I try every now and then, without success. I love the quote 😂

The bottom photo might not be quite what you had expected, but it’s still a good photo. 🙂 I like the colours.

I certainly won’t be for a few weeks – acdtually heard it ping!! serves me right for not spending longer stretching that long, i knew it was tight before I started.
hee hee I considered it throwing it all downstairs, but there’s an alcove at the bottom with a vase in it – knowing my luck this morning . . . . . . . . .!

I have often thought that the utility room should be upstairs which is where you take off your clothes. OK you would have to carry the washing down to hang outside, but for most of the year here we have to dry indoors. I take mine downstairs each morning so it’s not a problem.

Yeah quite a few American houses I’ve been in have had it more sensibly located. We have enough space in our bathroom to have it all there, but I also have a downstairs bedroom and bathroom so I’d always be going up or down!!!

We also have a downstairs bedroom and bathroom, with just a shower room upstairs. But in a typical house upstairs utility room makes sense.
