I thought today I’d have another look at our fifth idiom – top and tail. Remember this one is encouraging you to play around with word combinations such as top dog, top stitch, top full, top line, top fruit, top hat, top secret, top knot, top drawer and top dollar. You could even go for words that include the word top, there are surprisingly quite a few out there such as;
- Utopia
- Topple
- Triceratops
- Topiary
- Stopwatch
- Toponym
- Doorstop
- Topographical
- Autopilot
- Topee
- Octopus
- Topically
See the imagination can go even wilder! I can’t wait to collate the next gallery, in the meanwhile though just remember the main tag is #SquareTops and your post must have a square photograph!
I’m guessing that is an electrical line in the photo. At first I was thinking clothesline. 🙂

Wouldn’t be unusual to see clothes line like this in Portuguese towns, but yes it is an electrical one

I often think we don’t look up enough in the rooftop direction. Today from me, more vintage Africa on several fronts: ‘Treetops Hotel’

And with smart phones it is getting worse 😦 maybe after this crisis people will go back to noticing what it around them rather than taking it for granted

Great shot, which would also have done for your lines and light challenges!

Very true . . . it not sure why it has taken me so long to bring it out of the archives!

A rather discreet top line compared to the spaghetti like masses of cables seen in many countries! Some interesting words given as suggestions, but where am I going to find a triceratops? I know. A toy shop…
Back to a favourite topping of mine, though not so much these days: https://wp.me/pL5Ms-5bI

Patience woman, I have to go searching first and it might not even be a triceratops!

Be careful on your search, don’t want any accidents from triceratop expeditions!
