Robin

Like red sky at nights, a sighting of magpies or blackberries after Michaelmas there are country sayings about Robins, particularly if they come into the house. For me though their friendly nature and bright redbreast are a sign of cheer whilst for others they are a winged messenger of solace.

    1. That’s what I think . . we’ve got a very tame pair at the moment in the garden. Some days I can almost understand what they are saying to me 🙂

  1. I never knew this (English? British?) superstition about robins. So I checked it out and for fun checked on German superstitions about robins. It’s funny that in German folklore the beliefs about robins are exactly the opposite to the English/British ones: it is considered a sign of good luck, and also contrary to the belief that it may be a sign of a loved one still lingering after death it is thought that robins portent change, taking leave for good of something. Go figure!
