Do hope you are having as much fun as I am on this great square adventure. For me it has been a wonderful excuse to look through the hundreds of photographs I took earlier this year in Portugal, and also a wonderful distraction from work and life this month. Thank you all so much for your wonderful contributions and comments. And also for your patience with my replies, pingback okays and the first gallery.
I thought this morning I would share another gorgeous Algarvian blue sky. It really was this blue, but it wasn’t just the glorious sky that caught my eye back in April. If you look carefully there’s a door especially for Norm and his Thursday Doors. And I also spotted quite a few blues in the frieze, yup even back then I was thinking of this challenge!
I also thought today, a third of our way into the month, I would remind everyone of the theme and rules, but before I do here is a picture of a bigger door for Norm and the complete frieze, with a man in blue, for my blue square gang!
The theme for July is ‘blue‘, and as always it is totally up to you how you interpret the square theme but here are my suggestions for how we might stay connected on our square adventures this month.
- Your photographic square could be a ‘Bolt from the Blue’ – something unexpected or surprising
- Alternatively why not explore ‘Into the wide blue yonder‘ – sky, sea or maybe a location that is appealingly unknown and mysterious
- Or if you prefer keep it simple with ‘Blue‘ – whether that’s azure, cobalt, sapphire, cerulean, navy, ultramarine, indigo, or turquoise
- And if you’re feeling particularly adventurous try to combine two of these, or maybe even all three!
Whatever you decide to do, please remember there is a rule if you want to part of the Square Gang and be sure your squares make into the gallery.
Your main photograph must be square!
Hopefully you can join me in posting daily but if daily is too difficult, then it is okay to post every other day, weekly or even just ‘once in a blue moon‘. As no matter how often you post I will include you in at least one blue gallery (well I will if you keep your photographs square!!).
And finally the tags, I am using both #Blue and #JulySquares this month.
Both shots have doors in them but the one in the first shot is just too cute 🙂

Such a pretty building! With the art on there, it is so much better than plain old brick. 🙂

The house style is very typical, the frieze not so common 🙂

This frieze is charming (btw, one of those words I learned long ago and forgot – in German a frieze is a “Relief” and I just knew that “relief” wasn’t it! – thanks for unearthing forgotten knowledge). Here is the first of my promised flowers: https://picturesimperfect2.wordpress.com/2019/07/11/flower-complete-with-pollen-collector/ I came upon it quite unexpected in the middle of a round-about, so some sort of bolt out of the blue.
