Hi everyone I am so sorry I have not been in touch for a month, I am not sure where the time has gone. I was really unwell at the beginning of the month, just a cold like bug, but it wiped me out for days. And ever since then I have been playing catch up with life, family and work. And of course as many of you know I have also in this time returned to England from Portugal.

There have been some positives in May such as seeing my amazing Mum, catching up with friends and observing the wonderful fledglings on the tree at the end of our neighbours garden. Took us a few moments to recognise what they are. Do you know?A May fledgling

For those who haven’t guessed they are starlings. And here they are with one of their parents! They were so lovely to observe, especially as this is the first time for years that we have had starlings in the gardens around us.

However despite the positives, and as I am sure you have guessed by the lack of notifications and announcements, I have not had a chance to even think about preparing June squares. I do have a theme but I just can’t start it tomorrow. I am so sorry.

I am though only postponing. It will be taking place in July, and next week I will announce the theme. Today and this weekend I just need a little bit more time to catch up. So please do bear with me, and in the meanwhile here a rather lovely shot of one of the starling adults!Starling

PS I also really want to catch up on all of your posts and many comments over the last month before I start looking at daily posts. I am so far behind, fingers crossed though I will have caught up with all of you very soon. I have missed you!

    1. It is such a challenge isn’t it sometimes, and then when you do slip away for a bit there is so much to do when you return. However I have missed everyone so very much, that not sure I could give it up. I am though certainly going to be quieter in my English months

  5. So that’s where our Starlings have gone! Odd that we only have them in the winter months. I assumed they went abroad for their summer holidays. Obviously not! Sorry to hear you were poorly – adjusting to our climate perhaps, or the same old story of picking up a bug on the flight. Whenever and wherever I fly to I always end up with a cold. I was happy to see a sparrow bring its youngster to our bird feeder yesterday, the fledgling stayed on a branch, fluffing its feathers and cheeping noisily whilst mum or dad kept flying down to the feeder, taking one seed and popping it into the youngster’s mouth! I could just imagine the conversation. “We’re off to Jude’s cafΓ© today, now when we get there you need to look out for the cat, and then watch me as I show you how to jump onto the sticky out bit of the tube that hangs from the tree. You cling onto this and stick your head into the hole and you will have food” Obviously this particular baby needs a bit more training!

    1. What fun to watch . . they are so funny in these early stages. I do keep my cat in though or at least load him down with multiple bells!!

and you guessed right it was a flight bug . . was fine for the first few days and then out of action we duly went. MrB is still recovering!

  7. I think I spent this entire month running. Not getting anywhere, but running, like Alice in Wonderland, as fast as I could just to stay in the same place. And next month is going to be the same story. I don’t understand it. I’M RETIRED.

    1. It is so difficult isn’t it. We all become such good friends on here, but when life gets in the way it is so difficult to let everyone know. Wish the blog providers could create a button that says all is well I will be back

Hope you all hear from your friend soon
