The last few days have been amazing square wise, and so many new square photographers have joined us. I thought therefore it might be useful to share again the challenge rules. It is a daily photo challenge, but I am really flexible on this. If you have not yet joined us you are welcome to post all 31 spikes in one go at the end of the month, or just pop in and out a couple of times between now and the end of the month. The frequency is whatever suits you, your blog and your circumstances. I am not so flexible though on something else, and that’s what I call the ONE absolute rule for this daily photo challenge.
Your main photograph must be square!
As in previous months all pingbacks must be approved. This helps ensure I don’t miss out on any of your #SpikySquares. I aim to visit every pingback/link and respond to every comment – so the links do appear and sometimes this will be the same day.
I will when I have time, such as last week, share a selection of all the pingbacks, so if you want to be included in the square galleries please make sure you pingback to the posts rather than the home page as otherwise they can be lost there. By the way if you spot I have not left a message on your #SpikySquare within a week of sharing it do let me know as it probably means WordPress is playing around with my notifications again.
I think I have covered everything but don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions. And for those who have been playing along every day this month, thank you so much. You are all amazing!
Happy spiky, jagged, pointy, bristly, serrated, prickly, spiny, and barbed’ squares!
Artichoke or Cardoon? I’m going for the cardoon as they tend to be more spiky than the artichoke.

Another “ouch” from you. I’ve gone very serious today, and tomorrow will be as well. But I couldn’t leave out these particular spikes. https://picturesimperfect2.wordpress.com/2019/03/15/lest-we-forget-1/

That’s a square beauty! I can certainly see its artichoke resemblance.

Not done half the things I would have liked! Been either working or caring throughout. Still as you say family is ok (almost!), and so that’s what counts. 😊

Gorgeous spiky flower bud. Is it some sort of artichoke?

It’s not, but one of it’s common names is artichoke thistle! It is a cardoon (cynara), but not 100% sure which type.
