  3. I had to google image search this one because I didn’t see it even though I went there twice. So the ‘hair’ is the same all around, a bit odd but striking!

    1. I agree odd but striking. The most bizarre thing though is that it has been here since 2009 (apparently?!) but I can only remember it from last year!!!

    1. The where – located on the banks of the Guadiana in Vila Real de Santo Antonio.
      The what – it is the 19th Portuguese statesman – Marquês de Pombal. There are as many varied views on the statue created by Joao Cutileiro as there are on the legacy of Pombal! One of his more positive legacies is that he designed the town’s grid layout hence I presume the statue 😊
