Wave

Wave is from the 2014 installation ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’ at the Tower of London. The poppies and original concept were created by artist Paul Cummins and the installation designed by Tom Piper.

In 2015 Wave and Weeping Window commenced a 3 year tour of the United Kingdom, and the installation at Fort Nelson was the final stage of the tour for Wave. Mum and I visited on the anniversary of Dad’s death. I wasn’t 100% sure it would be the right thing to do but I had inkling it might be perfect. And it was.

  1. I never saw this, either at the Tower or on tour. This looks an especially successful re-positioning, and it must have felt so meaningful for you and your mum.

    1. oh you are so lucky. I realised too late you could buy them, which is a huge shame as one of them will have been made in memory of my great uncle.

    1. We were so lucky . . . and all thanks to twitter that I picked up it was on. Twitter is a nightmare in so many ways, but also has amazing good points.

    1. The weeping window one looked amazing in the photos, I might go to London to see it there when they re-install both permanently at one of the museums.
