My Dad loved growing sweetpeas, however his were always grown in a cordon. His aim was to have at least three flowers on every stem, and preferably four or five. My sweetpeas didn’t do very well this year, must make more effort next.

My Sweetpeas suffered from a lack of rainfall and selective watering 😦
Here is another flower Becky. I am sorry I can’t remember what the name.

Mine grow up an obelisk and despite only having a few plants this year they have been quite prolific, though dying off now I’m sad to say. I love the smell of sweet peas and they always take me back to my childhood as my dad also grew them, along with dark red peonies, rhubarb, sweet williams, dahlias and carnations! (I’m sure he grew other things too, but they are what I remember from early childhood – he let me have a small patch and I grew cornflowers and marigolds)

I love it . . .all three of us have memories of a parent growing them 🙂 no wonder we all have a fondness for flowers and growing things.

I love them too! We always used to have them on a trellis between Mam’s rose garden and Joe’s patch 🙂 🙂
