Apparently when Stourhead opened in the 1740’s it was described as a ‘living piece of art’ and even on a damp grey day in June it felt like that.
There are many walks around Stourhead, including hikes but on Monday we simply took the easy stroll around the lake enjoying the beautiful Azaleas, Rhododendrons, Orchids, Dog Roses and many other wonderful specimens I have yet to identify.
It was a shame the hints of blue sky remained hints, and never even developed into pocket handkerchiefs, but it didn’t rain and the abundance of blooms more than made up for it.
And for those of you who also follow my Algarve blog I even managed to snap a few bird shots!
